About Me

Welcome to my webpage. I'm a postdoctoral scholar in Prof. Vicky Kaspi's pulsar group at McGill University. My research focuses on finding new and interesting pulsars in large-area radio surveys and learning everything I can from them.

I'm also a passionate educator with many years of outreach experience. I'm driven to foster a thirst for knowledge of astronomy and other areas of science among all people, especially children and young adults.

I love to give both technical talks on my research and talks for the general public on any and all areas of astronomy. Please contact me If you'd like to schedule a visit or a special outreach event.

• I was quoted in several popular press stories about new tests of Einstein's theory of General Relativity carried out with a pulsar I found. Read more at Discovery Channel News, Nature News, Christian Science Monitor, NBC News, Universe Today, and the National Radio Astronomy Observatory.
• The McGill Alumni Magazine just published an excellent story about the AstroMcGill outreach efforts.
• We've just learned that we'll be having a very special guest for the AstroMcGill podcasts early in 2013 — Nobel laureate Brian Schmidt!
• GBNCC candidates can now be viewed using the Cyber SKA website. Let's go find some pulsars!
• We've been approved for long-term timing of the newest GBNCC and Drift Scan pulsars using both the GBT and LOFAR telescopes!
• I'll be giving a talk on the PALFA survey at the Physical Applications of Millisecond Pulsars meeting in Aspen, CO in January 2013.

• Read a story in the McGill Reporter on a recent observing night that we held for some local high school students.
• I'll be giving a talk on the GBNCC survey at the International Pulsar Timing Array science meeting in Kiama, Australia in June 2012.
• AstroMcGill will be teaming up with the Université de Montréal and the Montreal Planetarium to host a special event for the transit of Venus in June 2012. Be sure to check out our Facebook page for more details on this once in a lifetime event!
• I've been invited to give a talk on "The Hunt for New Pulsars Using the Green Bank Telescope" at the International Astronomical Union General Assembly XXVIII in Beijing, China in August 2012. The talk will be a part of Symposium 291, Neutron Stars and Pulsars: Challenges and Opportunities after 80 Years.
• I'm giving an update on recent GBT pulsar searches at the Green Bank science lunch and NANOGrav Science Seminar in May 2012.
• The McGill Reporter published a story on our podcast series.
• A story about Astro McGill's special visit to the Akiva School has been published in the McGill Faculty of Science Alumni Newsletter.
