Why is the Universe Made of Matter?

Guy Moore

University of Washington

The universe contains a net abundance of matter. This is interesting, because no observed process changes net matter abundance, and there are reasons to believe that the initial abundance in the Big Bang was zero. After reviewing the evidence for a matter abundance and the reasons to expect it is not primordial, I will review how far we have come towards understanding where the matter came from.
