Informal Pizza SeminarStability of the cosmic strings produced in brane inflationHorace StoicaMcGillBrane inflation models predict the formation of cosmic strings either as fundamentally one-dimensional objects, or as branes wrapped on compact manifolds. These branes may or may not carry fluxes inside their world-volumes. We discuss the stability of the cosmic strings in the presence of the Standard Model branes in order to establish whether cosmic strings can offer an observational window for physics at the GUT scale.
