Synthesis and characterization of filled carbon nanotubes

Olivier Klein

Laboratoire des Solides Irradiés

Various filled nanotubes have recently been produced by the arc-plasma discharge method by doping a graphite anode with a transition metal. The final product is a monocrystal nanowire, encapsulated by several sheets of graphite, that extends over several microns with a few thousands Angstrom diameter. This seminar will review the different techniques that have been used to characterize the structural and physical characteristics of these nanowires.
