High invariant mass dimuon production and suppression

Sangyong Jeon

Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory

High invariant mass (M > 2 GeV) dimuon production and suppression as a tool to discover the quark-gluon plasma (QGP) is discussed. We use the LEXUS model to establish what is expected in high energy pA and heavy ion collisions. SPS data are critically analyzed and RHIC results are anticipated.
