Mikko Haataja
Physics Department The 1998 Nobel prize for physics were awarded to H.L. Stormer and D.C. Tsui for their 1982 experimental discovery of fractional quantum Hall effect, and to R.B. Laughlin who explained the experimental data. In this informal seminar I will give a short review of what is fractional quantum Hall effect, and how we can understand it from the theory of Laughlin. I will focus the theory approach to the composite-Fermion picture.
