Physical Society Colloquium
Dr. Micheal Hilke Princeton University Two-dimensional electronic systems confined in semiconductor heterostructures present a variety of unique features. After the discoveries almost two decades ago of the integer and fractional quantum Hall effects, recently more surprises emerged: A zero magnetic field Metal-Insulator transition, the Quantized Hall Insulator, the semicircle relation, and signatures of non-Fermi Liquid behavior. I will focus on these topics by reviewing them and by presenting new experimental results.
