Neutrino physics with liquid xenon detectors

Majorana neutrinos, which violate lepton number conservation, would offer an intriguing window into physics beyond the Standard Model. The most practical experimental approach for discovering Majorana neutrinos is the search for neutrinoless double beta decay. I will discuss the experimental challenges faced by current and next generation detectors, with a focus on the liquid xenon time projection chamber technology employed by the EXO-200 and nEXO Collaborations.
