Dark matter particles and where to find them

Simon Viel

Carleton University

Dark matter is one of the most fundamental questions our time. Observed via Dark matter it may also weakly interact with ordinary matter and be detectable in particle physics experiments. Two types of searches for dark matter will be discussed: current and future collider searches with the ATLAS detector at CERN, as well direct detection searches with the DEAP-3600 experiment at SNOLAB and next generation liquid argon detectors.
