Origin of the Two Minor Moons in the Pluto-Charon System

Yoram Lithwick

CITA

Two small moons have recently been discovered around Pluto. Their orbits around Pluto are nearly circular and coplanar with Pluto's large moon Charon. I will describe how they might have formed, and what this teaches us about the early conditions in the Kuiper belt, and about planet formation in general.
