Holographic Description of AdS₂

The near horizon geometry of extremal black holes universally contains an AdS₂ factor. Therefore one expects that quantum nature of black holes is governed by the dual theory of AdS₂. In this talk I will discuss the holographic renormalization of AdS₂ following the procedures of AdS/CFT correspondence in higher dimensions. This gives us a framework to study the asymptotic symmetry group, and compute the boundary stress tensor. As a result we find an enhanced Virasoro algebra and its central charge.
