Hydrodynamic fluctuations and correlation functions

Pavel Kovtun

University of Victoria

I will discuss the effects of relativistic hydrodynamic fluctuations on the correlation functions of the energy-momentum tensor. In 2+1 dimensions, the shear viscosity and the diffusion constant cease being independent transport coefficients because of the fluctuations. In 3+1 dimensions, the fluctuations render the second-order hydro invalid at low frequencies.
