Iridium thin films as Transition Edge Sensors

Daniela F. Bogorin

University of Miami

Transition Edge Sensors are becoming the detectors of choice in dark matter experiments, neutrino search and cosmic radiation detection from near infrared, gamma rays, to millimeter wavelengths. We are developing transition edge sensors using superconducting Iridium thin films. Our Ir films are obtained using radio frequency (RF) magnetron sputtering and photolithography. A description of the fabrication process and the characterization of the film properties at room temperature and low temperature will be presented.
