Quantum Hall physics in layered/2D materials: from graphene to topological insulators

Yong P. Chen

Purdue University

I will discuss various novel aspects about quantum Hall physics in layered/2D materials including graphene as well as various topological insulator materials. These layered/2D topological materials open possibility to realize unconventional quantum Hall systems and may make us think what is really needed for a quantum Hall effect to occur.
