Confined Polymers as model chromosomes

Bae-Yeun Ha

University of Waterloo

Chromosomes in living cells are strongly confined but show a high level of spatial organization. I will discuss confined polymers as model chromosomes. In particular, I will show how cylindrical confinement reshapes each polymer chain and enhances their segregation, in the way seen in rod-shaped bacteria.
