Multi-control of magnetoelectric effect and magnetotransport in nanoscale magnetic heterostructure is an important research area of modern spintronics. In particular, the spinterface plays a crucial role in magnetic proximity effects via magnetic and electric fields as well as mechanical strain. We have developed a theoretical framework and its associated first principles simulation tool to predict the operation of next-generation, multifunctional and low-energy spintronics devices involving spinterface. In this seminar, I shall introduce and apply this tool to investigate the dual control of magnetic proximity and magnetization switching in molecular spintronics [1] and strain-induced magnetic-to-nonmagnetic transition of PtSe2 zig-zag nanoribbons [2].
