Surprises From Entropy

Greg van Anders

Queen's University

A wide range of colloidal soft matter systems can be described by models in which entropy is the sole or dominant source of interesting physics. I will show a examples from recent work demonstrating that purely entropic systems provide a laboratory for studying phenomena ranging from self-assembly to topological phases.
