Is there a multiverse?

The idea that ours is just one of many universes has been widely debated since its introduction in the 1980's. Its necessary relation to the anthropic principle is one source of controversy. I will review the arguments and issues confronting the multiverse, and present a simple theory that gives a new mechanism for generating a multiverse.
