APS plaques unveilingFriends, Colleagues, On Monday, November 30th at 16:00 in the Keys Auditorium (room 112), we will have an unveiling of plaques offered to McGill University by the Historic Sites Committee of the American Physical Society to celebrate the seminal work done in physics at McGill by Rutherford and Soddy. This event will involve Principal Munroe-Blum, Dean Grant, Dr. Alan Chodos (Associate Executive Officer of the APS), and Dr. John S. Rigden (Founding Chair of the Historic Sites Committee of the APS). Notably, McGill is the only site outside the US recognized to date by the APS-HSC. The ceremony will involve short remarks, and a mini-talk by Dr. J. S. Rigden, a noted historian of science. This will be followed by food and drinks in our lounge, and by visits of the Rutherford Museum for those interested. Please join in to celebrate this recognition of our Department's history, and to toast to its present and future.
